Eventbrite has announced its expansion into the Asian ticketing market with a localized platform available in Singapore.

Eventbrite says the localized ticketing service will offer Singaporean event creators with new solutions to help sell tickets to events.

Eventbrite is going head-to-head with Sistic, the local ticketing agency that controls around 70% of the entertainment ticket market in Singapore. Singapore has a population of around 5.8 million, and one of the highest per-capita gross domestic products (GDP) in the world.

Singapore has been a frequent stomping ground for tours throughout Asia, with stars such as Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, and the Weeknd part of a long list of high-profile performers.

Live Nation has even expanded its presence in the region by acquiring local promoter One Production in January.

Eventbrite itself has ticketed roughly 90,000 events in Singapore.  According to the company, that amounts to over 4.9 million tickets with more than 17,000 event creators.

Eventbrite says it considers Singapore a strategic hub for expanding its presence throughout the Asia Pacific region.

From its dynamic arts festivals to its world-famous food scene, there’s always something new and exciting to do in the Lion City; and it’s a market we view as strategic to Eventbrite’s long-term success in the Asia Pacific region.”

Research studies suggest that 94% of Singaporeans attended at least one live event in 2018.  44% of those respondents said they intend to attend another live event in 2019.

Eventbrite has been expanding its presence globally after launching on the New York Stock Exchange last year.  The company’s first European office opened in Madrid after acquiring Spanish ticketing platform Ticketea.

Eventbrite is building a new four-story complex in Madrid that will serve as the company’s European ticketing hub.  The new office space is slated to open later this year in May.
